New Packaging Project

This is the new project that I uploaded to my website on Wednesday. It's really just my own take on the Whittard of Chelsea hot chocolates. I love their current packaging so I kept a few aspects of it since they work really well. These ones are slightly taller and slimmer than the current packaging and the layout is simple and to the point on both the front and back. It was great working on a cylindrical wrapper as it's not something I've done before now and its been a while since I worked on something 3D. Originally I had considered making two of my own flavours, cherry and vanilla but I decided 5 was really enough without adding any extra.

Now that it's Autumn I'm having a bit of trouble with my photography studio (a.k.a outside in daylight) because it's really wet and windy, so I took the photos indoors but some of them came out great despite the dim lighting. You can have a proper look at the project on my website www.lorenharrison.co.uk

Coming Soon

My latest project is ready for print and will appear here and on my website as soon as I've photographed it. In the mean time here's a little preview...

Feel good drinks poster

I've uploaded my new Feel Good Drinks poster to my website. It's really my first poster for this kind of advertising and I had loads of fun with it. I had the idea for this one very quickly and the illustrations for the poster were made and put together very quickly too which was great because it meant I didn't get bored or frustrated with it. Actually piecing it together on screen was a different story though but I have to admit the time I was working with it on screen was extremely fragmented. In the end the most effective communication was the simplest.

Online Shop Sorted!

You may have noticed my shop disappeared for a bit there. Well it's back again safe and sound now. There's not much on it at the moment but the stuff that's there is new (mostly work I've been doing over the summer). I'll continue to add more new and previous work so keep an eye on it.

New Plain Cards for Scarlet Ribbons

The lovely gift shop Scarlet Ribbons liked my ladybird greetings card and asked if I had any more like it (ones that didn't have a specific greeting or were fairly genderless) so I made a few more designs and they decided to stock them. These can be used for pretty much any situation as they are completely ambiguous, giving you the chance to write your own personal message. They were great fun to make as I just felt like I was doing a bit of personal work without the pressure of a brief. If you happen to be in Falkirk and looking for a gift or cards then Scarlet ribbons is just across from Asda car park on Glebe St.

Rickerby Park illustration

I was having a look through an old sketchbook the other week and came across a sketch I'd forgotten about, so I decided not to let it go to waste and made this. Since then it's just been sitting on my hard-drive wanting to be uploaded to my blog. It's an illustration of an elderly couple walking through Rickerby Park in Carlisle a couple of years ago.

My new online shop!

I've got my online shop up and running. At the moment it's only got some of my newest work on it available as prints and canvases but over the next few weeks it will be updated to include far more work (available as prints, canvases, t-shirts, phone cases and more). If you're interested have a look at society6.com/LorenHarrison or you can find it on my website lorenharrison.co.uk under 'Shop'

Evans gift card ideas

I work part time in Evans (the plus sized clothing store) and really wanted to design some gift cards since I started working there. Most of them I tried to keep clean and sophisticated. Some were more successful than others (the one with the figure probably being the only one I'd call a final) but I wanted to experiment a bit. The sizes were based off the ones currently being used.

Tiger

My favourite types of animals are big cats (or any cats really) so its a bit strange that, with the exception of the odd sketchbook doodle here and there, I haven't painted one in years. My friend also loves tigers so for her birthday I painted one for her. I kept a scanned copy so it's very likely I'll make it into something new once I've finished the gift card project I'm currently working on.

Deep Sea World

This work is based on a visit to deep sea world during summer 2012. I've had this project on my website for a while but never actually blogged it. So here it is, the first 2 images are finals and the rest is development and sketchbook work. The clown fish illustration wins the prize for the longest I've ever spent on one illustration but as usual the illustrations that were the simplest to make turned out to be the best.

Christmas Cards

These are some Christmas card ideas I did last month. I've really enjoyed illustrating them and can't wait for more excuses to make cards. Does anyone have a birthday coming up?
